Liverpool Defender To Discuss Future In The Summer
The agent of Martin Skrtel claims he’s ignoring rumours suggesting Liverpool want to sign Ashley Williams but has revealed he will discuss his future this summer
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Martin Skrtel will discuss his future in the summer.
The agent of Martin Skrtel claims he is not paying any attention to rumours suggesting Liverpool are looking to sign Ashley Williams but has revealed the defender will sit down and discuss his future with the club this summer, according to Sky Sports News.
The report claims that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has lost patience with Skrtel after dropping him to the bench in recent weeks and wants to buy Swansea captain Ashley Williams as a replacement this summer.
However, the Slovakian international’s agent, Karol Csonto, insists he’s paying no notice to the rumours calling them nothing by speculation:
“I don’t read things like this, because such news I consider just speculation,” Csonto is quoted as saying by Sky Sports
Skrtel was given a chance to impress after being recalled to the starting eleven for Saturday’s clash with Southampton but put in a disappointing display and was at fault for two of the goals during a 3-1 defeat leading to more question marks over his future.
While Csonto highlighted the fact Skrtel still has a contract with the Merseysiders, he also confirmed the 28-year-old will seek to sit down with Liverpool chiefs at the end of the season to discuss the clubs plans for him.
“Martin still has a valid contract with Liverpool and we are not going to discuss his future during the season,” said Csonto.
“In the summer, we will see what intentions Liverpool have with him and will decide accordingly.”

The writing seems to be on the wall for Skrtel and it looks like Rodgers no longer trusts him to be a regular first choice centre-back. So unless he’s going to accept a bit-part role, or drastically improves his form during the closing stages of the season, a move away this summer could be on the cards.
