Man Utd Pre-Sunderland Team News & Injury Update: Latest On Nani, Jones & Scholes
Manchester United travel to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland on Saturday lunchtime. Here’s Sir Alex Ferguson’s team news & injury update ahead of the game
Premier League action returns this weekend after the two week international break and Manchester United continue their march towards their 20th league title as they travel to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland on Saturday lunchtime.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been in front of the media on Friday afternoon to give his pre-match press conference and gave ManUtd.com a team news and injury update with the latest on Nani, Phil Jones and Paul Scholes.
The good news is that United didn’t pick up any fresh injury problems over the international break with fatigue Ferguson’s greatest concern with the likes of Javier Hernandez and Antonio Valencia arriving back on Thursday from their long-haul trips around the world.
The United boss also revealed that Nani, Jones and Scholes – who have all been on the sidelines in recent weeks – have returned to training and are in contention to take part in United’s Easter fixtures with Sunderland and Chelsea. Here’s what Fergie told the clubs official website:
“I don’t think there are any injuries from the internationals which is really good news,”
“There’s a fair bit of tiredness and the answer to that is to make sure we get the energies back in their bodies. So there’s the recovery side to it with not much training.
“There was a fair bit of travel – Chicharito and Valencia only got in yesterday [Thursday] afternoon and the English players got back at 5am. Other than that, we’re very satisfied.”
“Nani, Jones and Scholes are all doing a little bit of training, which is encouraging,”
“Hopefully it will give us a good strong squad to approach the two games on Saturday and Monday. We’ll try and keep the momentum going with he run we’re in at the moment. If we do that, Monday will take care of itself.”
Now we’ve seen the team news, what would be your preferred starting eleven for the Sunderland clash? Should Ferguson rest his key men with Monday’s FA Cup quarter final replay with Chelsea in mind?
