QPR vs Arsenal Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups & Predicted Score
Arsenal make the short trip across London to take on Queens Park Rangers on Saturday evening. Here’s a preview with team news and likely line-ups for the game.
Arsenal make the short trip across London to take on Queens Park Rangers on Saturday evening hoping to leapfrog above Chelsea into third place in the Premier League table.
The Gunners currently sit fourth after last weeks results but with just one point separating us from third-placed Chelsea and the Blues not playing until Sunday when they visit Old Trafford, we have a great chance to jump back up to third this weekend.
We head into the game on an impressive run of eight wins from the last eleven games but missed the chance to beat champions United last week after failing to capatalise on a great start. A 1-1 draw was probably a fair result in the end and at least it keeps our unbeaten run going.
QPR’s relegation was confirmed last Sunday after a bore 0-0 draw with Reading. Harry Redknapp has failed to turn things around since his appointment in November but will the former Tottenham manager be able to motivate his side to put in an improved display this weekends game? Let’s hope not. They have nothing left to play for other than pride and many of their ‘mercenaries’ have looked completely uninterested in recent weeks so hopefully that’s the case again on Saturday.
Team News
We’ll once again be without the services of striker Olivier Giroud as he sits out the second of his three-match ban. Arsene Wenger has hinted Lukas Podolski will be given another chance up top after failing to impress against United.
Lukasz Fabianski remains out with a rib injury and he’s joined by Abou Diaby on the sidelines with the Frenchman out for up to nine months with a cruciate knee injury.
Jack Wilshere may return to the starting line-up after being left on the bench last week. He didn’t look 100% fit but hopefully with a full weeks training under his belt he’ll be back up to speed on Saturday and ready to start.
Nacho Monreal may also come in as Wenger continues to rotate his left backs and I hope we see Carl Jenkinson given a start after Bacary Sagna’s nightmare last weekend. There really is no reason why the Frenchman should retain his place for this game, and Jenko deserves his chance.
QPR welcome back Bobby Zamoro from his three-match ban. The powerful front man gave us plenty of problem back in his Fulham days so we’ll have to keep a close eye on him.
On-loan Tottenham attacker Andros Townsend could get a recall after recovering from a hamstring strain while Chris Samba is likely to miss out with a knee problem. Shaun Wright-Phillips and Andrew Johnson are both out for the rest of the season.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted Score
Surprisingly, Arsenal have never won at Loftus Road in the Premier League era but with Rangers having the worst goal-scoring rate at home this season, combined with Arsenal having the best away defensive record, I can see us breaking our duck this weekend. QPR 0-2 Arsenal COYG!
