Man Utd Team News & Injury Update: Scholes, Welbeck, Rooney & More…
Manchester United welcome Swansea City to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon for Sir Alex Ferguson’s final home game in charge. Here’s the latest team news update.
It’s set to to be an emotional weekend as Manchester United welcome Swansea City to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon for Sir Alex Ferguson’s final home game in charge before retiring at the end of the season.
Ferguson has decided to call time on his 26-year reign in charge at United with David Moyes set to replace the 71-year-old Scot on the 1st July. To make the day extra special, United will be handed the Premier League trophy in front of their fans and it’s sure to be a party atmosphere at Old Trafford tomorrow.
Understandably, Sir Alex has avoided any media work these past few days but ManUtd.com have provided a team news and injury update ahead of the Swansea clash with the latest on Paul Scholes, Danny Welbeck, Wayne Rooney, Rafael and Ashley Young.
It looks like midfield legend Scholes is in-line to start after recovering from injury. Scholes has been one of Fergie’s most consistent performers over the years and it seems he’s going to be given the chance to start on his momentous occasion.
Attacker Welbeck is back in contention after missing last weekend defeat to Chelsea while Rooney is also hoping to feature, although it’s unclear whether he’ll be involved amid rumours he’s asked to leave the club this summer.
Rafael is suspended so either Phil Jones or Chris Smalling will fill in at right back but Ashley Young is definitely out through injury. Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez, Alexander Buttner and Tom Cleverley are among the players hoping for a start.
Now we’ve seen the team news, what would be your starting eleven for the game? Leave your suggestions below.
