Arsenal & Spurs Going Head-To-Head For £20m-Rated Hitman
Tottenham have made Christian Benteke their No.1 summer transfer target but will face stiff competition from Arsenal for the £20m-rated strikers signature.
With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal will challenge Spurs for Christian Benteke.
Tottenham have made Christian Benteke their No.1 summer transfer target but will face stiff competition from Arsenal for the £20m-rated strikers signature, according to the Mirror.
The Belgian international has been a revelation at Villa Park this season, scoring 23 goals in 39 appearances following his £7m move from Genk last summer.
It seems his impressive form hasn’t gone unnoticed in the upper echelons of the Premier League with the Mirror claiming that Tottenham and Arsenal will battle it out for his signature, with both north London clubs keen to add to their strike-force this summer.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas already has Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermaine Defoe on the books at White Hart Lane but with the duo only managing 15 league goals between them this season, a regular goal-scorer could be on the cards this summer.
Arsene Wenger has been overly reliant on Olivier Giroud up front this season and with Lukas Podolski looking unconvincing through the middle, another striker is sure to be on the agenda for the Gunners this summer and Benteke could fit the bill nicely.
However, Paul Lambert won’t let his star man go on the cheap, particularly if the Midlanders avoid the drop, and the newspaper claims they will demand around £20m for the powerful 22-year-old hitman.
Benteke was sent off shortly after scoring against Chelsea on Saturday meaning he’ll miss the final game of the season next weekend. Could he have played his last game for Villa? It certainly looks like it’s going to be extremely difficult for the relegation candidates to hang on to him and you wouldn’t bet against the youngster making a move to north London this summer.
