With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal are linked with a Juvents defender and Spurs target Joao Moutinho.
Gunners linked with Lichtsteiner
First up and according to reports in Italy, Arsenal are preparing a £12m raid on Juventus for defender Stephan Lichtsteiner this summer. The Swiss international has enjoyed another excellent season in Serie A and it seems his form has caught the eye of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal could be on the look-out for a new right back if Bacary Sagna leaves the club and Forza Italia claim Wenger has identified Lichtsteiner as the ideal man to replace the Frenchman and is prepared to test Juve’s resolve with a £12m bid.
The 29-year-old would offer an experienced head and someone young Carl Jenkinson could learn from but it remains to be seen whether the newly crowned Serie A champions would be prepared to sell one of their key first team players.
AVB targets Moutinho
Next up and the Sun are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur will get over their Champions League heart-ache by renewing their interest in Porto playmaker Joao Moutinho.
Spurs narrowly missed out on the top-four on the final day of the season and boss Andre Villas-Boas is expected to make several changes to his squad this summer as they try to finally break into the Champions League places next year.
The Sun suggest the first signing the north Londoners will look to tie up is that of long-term target Moutinho, who came close to signing for Spurs last summer, with AVB understood to be keen to link-up with the Portuguese international having worked with him during his time with Porto.
However, the 26-year-old wont come cheap with the newspaper suggesting it may take up to £30m to persuade the Portuguese champions into selling the talented attacker.
