AVB Makes Personal Call To Persuade David Villa To Choose Spurs Over Liverpool
Tottenham hope a personal phonecall from boss AVB will be enough to persuade David Villa to snub interest from Liverpool and agree to move to White Hart Lane.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Tottenham hope to sign David Villa head of Liverpool.
Tottenham hope a personal phonecall from boss Andre Villas-Boas has done enough to persuade David Villa to snub interest from the likes of Liverpool and Fiorentina and agree to move to White Hart Lane this summer, according to the Metro.
The 31-year-old is expected to leave Barcelona this summer after struggling to regain his place in Tito Vilanova’s starting eleven following his leg break, while the signing of Brazilian sensation Neymar is only going to make first team football even harder to come by at the Nou Camp.
The Metro claim Tottenham have been trying to land Villa for months and met the player back in February to register their interest but they now face competition from Liverpool and Fiorentina – who’re all keen on signing Spain’s all-time record goalscorer.
However, the newspaper suggests Spurs boss AVB has followed up his meeting with the player with a personal phone call to try and persuade the former Valencia man to shun the advances of their rivals and agree to a switch to north London.
Villa is expected to make a final decision over his future this week after completing his international duties with Spain at the Confederations Cup, and the report believes that Tottenham are now confident of seeing off the challenge of Liverpool and completing a £12m deal.
