Transfer News: Liverpool Join London Rivals In Tracking 32-Goal Turkish Striker
Liverpool have joined Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea in showing an interest in prolific Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz, according to Sky Sports.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool join the chase for Burak Yilmaz.
Liverpool have joined Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea in showing an interest in prolific Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz, according to Sky Sports News.
The 27-year-old emerged as one of Europe’s hottest hitmen after a stunning season with Trabzonspor in 2012, where he scored 33 goals in just 34 games. He then made the move to Galatasaray last summer and continued his sensational form in front of goal, scoring 32 goals in 39 appearances, including 8 in last seasons Champions League.
His impressive form appears to have caught the eye of several English teams with Sky Sports claiming that Liverpool are the latest side to keep tabs on him after Arsenal and Chelsea have previously been credited with interest.
The report suggests Brendan Rodgers is drawing up a shortlist of potential targets to replace want-away striker Luis Suarez, and if the Uruguayan is sold this summer the Northern Irishman could make a move for Yilmaz.
Galatasaray president Unal Aysal has admitted the club are prepared to sell their front-man as long as his asking price is met.
“We have set a price for Burak Yilmaz. We will only consider an offer which is in the best interests of the club and player,”
“If Burak wants to leave and our transfer demands are matched, we could accept a deal.” Aysal is quoted as saying by Sky Sports
While the Turkish league is not considered the strongest, there is little doubt Yilmaz has proven his worth in Europe with his goals in the Champions League showing he’s capable of doing the business at the top level. Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea could all be in the market for a striker this summer and they could do a lot worse than take a punt on the powerful Turkish hitman.
