Man Utd Team News: Moyes Gives Injury Update Ahead Of Southampton Game
Manchester United entertain Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. Here is manager David Moyes’ team news and injury update ahead of the game.
Premier League action returns after the international break as Manchester United entertain Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, boss David Moyes has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference and gave ManUtd.com the latest team and injury news.
The Scot hinted that a couple of his players have picked up knocks while away with their countries during the international break, but he is playing his cards close to his chest and refused to confirm the players in question.
Moyes says he’ll continue to monitor his squad in training today but is hopeful that the injury concerns will be passed fit to take on high-flying Southampton tomorrow. He told the clubs official website:
“It’s always a concern, especially when you have so many players away like we do. I’ll monitor training, one or two are nursing knocks so we’ll need to look at it but hopefully they will be okay.”
United have endured a difficult start to the new season but came from behind to secure a 2-1 win away at Sunderland before his squad went off to meet up with their nations all over the world, and Moyes was philosophical about the timing of the international break. He added:
“Sometimes you get the international break on the back of a bad result and sometimes off a good result. We went into it with a good result,” said the boss.
United head into the weekend’s action sitting ninth in the table, so will no doubt be looking to pick up all three points at home to Southampton and get their season heading in the right direction.
