Arsenal are in Germany to take on Borussia Dortmund in a crucial Champions League group match.
The Gunners head into the game sitting level on points with both Dortmund and Napoli so tonight’s game could prove pivotal in determining how Group F shapes up.
The Germans left the Emirates with all three points two weeks ago thanks to a late Robert Lewandowski strike and another defeat this evening will leave us in danger of missing out on qualification to the knockout stages.
We warmed up for the game with an impressive 2-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday and haven’t lost on the road in 13 games, so should be confident of getting a result at the intimadating Westfalonstadion.
The last time we were in Germany we beat European champions Bayern Munich so that result should certainly give us hope of pulling off a shock win tonight.
Team News
Unfortunately, Jack Wilshere has been ruled out with an ankle injury that kept him out of the Liverpool game. The midfielder turned his ankle in training last week and is now a doubt to face Man Utd on Sunday.
Mathieu Flamini hopes to be back for the trip to Old Trafford but tonight’s game will come too soon, meaning Aaron Ramsey will play alongside Mikel Arteta in midfield.
Kieran Gibbs has been passed fit to play despite being forced off with a calf problem on Saturday, while Serge Gnabry returns to the squad.
Tomas Rosicky is set to face his former club as he’s expected to start on the right side of midfield with Theo Walcott still nursing an abdominal injury. The speedster joins Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Abou Diaby in missing the game.
The big news from the hosts is that Mats Hummels is almost certain to miss the game with a thigh problem, but Marcel Schmelzer could come back in after returning to the bench for Friday’s 6-1 thrashing of Stuttgart.
Club captain Sebastian Kehl is back in training but this game will come too soon for him, while Lukasz Piszczek and Ilkay Gundogan remain sidelined.
Likely Line-Ups
Key Man
Mesut Ozil: The German playmaker should know tonight’s opposition well from his time in the Bundesliga and Arsenal will need a big performance from him if they want to get a positive result.
Predicted Score
Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Arsenal: This is going to be a huge test for the Gunners and while I’d love to see us pick up all three points, I think we’ll have to settle for a hard earned point.
