Manchester United welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon looking to close the gap on the north Londoners to five points.
The Gunners head into the weekend clash sitting two points clear of second-placed Liverpool and a full eight ahead of United so could open up a huge 11 point advantage over the champions if they can secure all three points on Sunday.
However, the record books are not in Arsenal’s favour in recent times as they haven’t won at Old Trafford in their previous six visits and David Moyes will be looking to continue that run as he takes on Arsene Wenger for the first time as United boss.
The Red Devils warmed up for the game with a dull 0-0 draw away at Real Sociedad on Wednesday but it extended their unbeaten run to eight games and they look to be getting back to somewhere near their best form after a dreadful start to life under Moyes.
The visitors on the other hand have started the season superbly and followed up last weeks 2-0 win over Liverpool with a stunning 1-0 win away at Borussia Dortmund, so should be full of confidence heading to Manchester.
Team News
Manchester United will be without forward Danny Welbeck who has been ruled out after failing to recover from a knee injury.
Defender Jonny Evans is pushing for a recall after recovering from a back complaint while Michael Carrick and Rafael are also in contention after missing the midweek trip to Spain through injury. Otherwise, Moyes has no fresh injury worries to contend with.
The same can not be said for Arsene Wenger with the Frenchman sweating on the fitness of midfielders Jack Wilshere and Mathieu Flamini.
Wilshere has been struggling to overcome an ankle knock and a late decision will be made over his involvement but Flamini is expected to be back in the squad after missing the last three games with a groin problem.
Theo Walcott is expected back after the international break and he remains on the sidelines along with Yaya Sanogo, Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Abou Diaby.
Likely Line-Ups
Key Man
Robin van Persie: The Dutchman scored against his former side last season and will be keen to do so again tomorrow, and Arsenal will feel if they can stop RVP and Rooney they will have a great chance of getting something from the game.
Predicted Score
Man Utd 2-2 Arsenal: I expect to United to raise their game for the visit of their old rivals and can see an entertaining score draw.
