Mesut Ozil Also Struck Down With Sickness Bug
Arsenal attacker Mesut Ozil is the latest player to be struck down by a bug that swept through the Gunners camp on the eve of their clash with Man Utd.
Arsenal attacker Mesut Ozil is the latest player to be struck down by a bug that swept through the Gunners camp over the past 48 hours.
The 24-year-old was due to fly out to link-up with the rest of the Germany squad ahead of Friday’s friendly with Italy but Joachim Low has confirmed to Bild that Ozil, along with team mate Per Mertesacker, have been advised to stay at home in London as they have flu.
Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky both failed to make the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United after falling sick on Saturday night while there were rumours that several other Arsenal players were also feeling under the weather on the eve of the clash at Old Trafford, and it appears Ozil was one of those also affected.
The playmaker was criticised following his lackluster performance on Sunday but this goes some way to explaining why he put in such a disappointing display against the Champions.
Ozil and Mertesacker are now doubts to face Italy on Friday but should be back in contention to take on England next Tuesday night at Wembley.
The Tweet below roughly translates to say that Low has confirmed that Ozil and Mertesacker have stayed in London with flu.
