Liverpool are lining-up a bid for Hamburg defender Dennis Aogo after learning he is yet to agree a permanent switch to Schalke at the end of the season, according to the Express.
Aogo is currently impressing while on a season long loan at Schalke and was expected to complete a permanent move to the Veltins-Arena next summer.
However, the Express claims that the 26-year-old is yet to make his mind up on the move as he feels he could get a better contract elsewhere, and this news has found it’s way back to Anfield and alerted boss Brendan Rodgers, who is now weighing up making a move for the left-back.
The German international, who has 12 caps to his name so far, remained coy when quizzed about his future, saying recently:
“I do not plan anything anymore. I live in the moment.” Aogo is quoted as saying by the Express.
Liverpool brought in Aly Cissokho on loan from Valencia in the summer to provide competition for Jose Enrique at left-back, but the Frenchman has failed to impress so far and is unlikely to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.
This has left Rodgers looking for possible alternatives for next season and the newspaper suggests the Reds are willing to pay over £2.5m and top the wages Schalke are prepared to offer to try and lure him to Anfield, but they will also face competition from Bayer Leverkusen and AS Roma for the players signature.
