Man Utd & Liverpool Tipped To Move For £33m-Rated Attacker
Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with a move for a £33m-rated winger. Find out who the player is and what his agent has said about a move here.
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Man Utd and Liverpool are linked with Arda Turan.
The agent of Atletico Madrid attacker Arda Turan has hinted at interest from Liverpool and Manchester United amid rumours the pair are considering triggering the players £33m release clause, according to the Express.
The report claims that the Premier League rivals have been sending scouts to run-the-rule over the winger on a regular basis this season ahead of potential January moves.
They will have been impressed with what they’ve seen as the 26-year-old has been in excellent form for Atletico this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 5 assists to help the club keep pace with Barcelona in La Liga and qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
He was rewarded for his fine displays last year with a new contract in the summer that includes a £33million (€40million) but-out clause, but that doesn’t appear to have put-off United or Liverpool with the Express claiming both are contemplating making a serious move in January.
David Moyes has recovered somewhat from a disappointing start to life at Old Trafford but endured a frustrating summer in the transfer market and could therefore be ready to spend some money this winter to freshen up his squad.
Brendan Rodgers on the other hand has enjoyed a positive start to the season with the Merseysiders currently sitting second in the table, but the newspaper suggests the Northern Irishman will continue to strengthen his squad when the transfer window re-opens in January and has set his sights on luring Turan to Anfield.
Turan’s agent, Ahmet Bulut, revealed towards the end of last season that the player wanted to play in England and hinted that there was interest from Liverpool and United. When asked about a potential move to the English duo, Bulut said:
“A destination in the Premier League would be to the liking of the player and I can confirm there are clubs interested, like the two mentioned,”
“He wants to work in England.” Bulut is quoted as saying by the Express.
Whether his new contract and Atletico’s form this season have changed Turan’s mind remains to be seen, but if he does make the move to England the likes of United and Liverpool are going to have to dig deep as Madrid are unlikely to want to sell for much below the players buy-out fee.
