Arsenal and Chelsea played-out a drab 0-0 draw on a wet and windy night at the Emirates on Monday. Here are the player ratings:
Arsenal
Szczesny 7/10 – Made a few routine saves made slightly more difficult by the adverse conditions.
Sagna 7/10 – Another steady display by the Frenchman as he kept the likes of Hazard and Willian quiet. Put in a couple of dangerous crosses.
Mertesacker 7/10 – Solid and was relatively untroubled by the Blues attack.
Vermaelen 7/10 – An encouraging display by the captain on his return to the side. Made a few excellent tackles.
Gibbs 6/10 – Was caught out of position a couple of times that almost cost the Gunners. Did link-up well with Rosicky near the end that should have led to a Giroud winner.
Arteta 7/10 – Controlled the game in the second half and was on the receiving end of a couple of poor challenges, particularly from Mikel.
Rosicky 6/10 – Mixed bag from the Czech international. Made some excellent runs that led to half-chances but was also guilty of giving possession away cheaply at times.
Ramsey 5/10 – Very disappointing display from the Welshman. Can’t remember him giving away the ball so much in a game this season. He did however send in a lovely pass for Giroud who sliced wide.
Ozil 6/10 – Struggled to make a real influence on the game as Chelsea stifled Arsenal’s creativity.
Walcott 5/10 – Wasn’t given a sniff by the away side all evening.
Giroud 5/10 – Fluffed his two big chances to win the game. Needs to step up and take his opportunities in the big games.
Chelsea
Cech 7/10 – Had very little to do but then made a crucial save to deny Giroud when called upon.
Ivanovic 7/10 – Another solid display from the dependable Serb as he kept Ozil on a tight leash.
Terry 8/10 – A rock at the back alongside Cahill.
Cahill 8/10 – Excellent all-round performance and typified by a superb sliding challenge to put Giroud off when well positioned.
Azpilicueta 7.5/10 – Kept Walcott quiet all game and was on hand to clear a Sagna header off the line.
Mikel 6/10 – Fortunate to stay on the pitch for a late tackle on Arteta but was otherwise steady in the middle of the park.
Lampard 8/10 – Went closest to opening the scoring when he smashed against the bar in the first half and was generally excellent all game.
Ramires 7/10 – Full of energy in the middle of the park to disturb Arsenal’s passing game.
Willian 5/10 – Very quiet and wasted a good opportunity in first half when he weakly fired at Szczesny.
Hazard 6/10 – Disappointing performance from the Belgian before he was subbed.
Torres 5/10 – lively start but faded quickly and wasn’t able to make any real impression on the game.
Subs
Schurrle 5/10 – Made little impact.
Oscar 5/10 – Made little impact.
Luiz 5/10 – on to shore things up late on.
The draw sees Arsenal move level on points with Liverpool at the top of the table while Chelsea are just two points adrift in fourth.
