Liverpool take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon looking to get back to winning ways following defeat at Manchester City.
Ahead of the game, boss Brendan Rodgers has been in front of the media for his pre-match press conference and gave Liverpoolfc.com a team news update.
Rodgers was without the likes of Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, Jon Flanagan and Jose Enrique for the City clash and he confirmed none of his injured players will return in time to take on Chelsea.
The Liverpool boss stated that captain Gerrard is progressing well from his hamstring injury and will continue his recovery next week, but the trip to Stamford Bridge comes too soon.
Liverpool’s squad is already stretched by injuries and Rodgers’ options will be limited further with on-loan attacker Victor Moses unavailable to play against his parent club.
Rodgers told the clubs official website:
“None of them will be available for the weekend,”
“Steven is progressing very well, so he will step up his work next week.”
“We won’t have Victor Moses in the squad, of course, because he’s a Chelsea player. It will be the same squad.”
The Reds saw their unbeaten run ended with a narrow 2-1 loss at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday which has left them sitting fourth in the Premier League table, so the Merseysiders will be keen to get back on track this weekend.
