[Player Ratings] Arsenal 2-0 Fulham: Santi To The Rescue For Gunners

Arsenal made hard work of beating Fulham this afternoon but the Gunners eventually ran out 2-0 winners thanks to a second half double from Santi Cazorla.
Here are my player ratings from the game:
Szczesny 7/10
The young Pole wasn’t overly worked but did make an excellent stop from powerful Steve Sidwell strike while the score was at 0-0. Perhaps lucky to get away with spilling the ball in the final minute when Bent shot wide with the goal at his mercy.
Sagna 7/10
Another steady display from Mr Dependable. The Frenchman put in a few dangerous crosses and wasn’t really troubled at the back.
Mertesacker 7/10
Kept Berbatov relatively quiet. The big German was a calm head at the back once again.
Koscielny 7.5/10
Another excellent performance from the Frenchman. He made several key interceptions and hardly put a pass astray all afternoon.
Monreal 7.5/10
Superb down the left flank all game. Played his part in the second and will be pushing Gibbs for the first team shirt if he continues this form.
Wilshere 7.5/10
Another fine assist from Jack as he set up Cazorla’s first with a clever cut back. Saw a lot of the ball and kept things moving in midfield.
Flamini 7/10
Quietly protected the defence and made some important tackles to regain possession.
Gnabry 7.5/10
Another encouraging display from the youngster. He was a little wild with his long-range shooting in the first half but went closer after the break and forced a couple of decent saves.
Cazorla 8/10
When Arsenal needed someone to step up, Santi was there. His movement and link-up play was superb for the opener and he drove home the second from the edge of the box.
Ozil 6.5/10
Moments of genius followed by frustratingly sloppy play. He gave the ball away more than he’s probably done all season, but also showed us his ability from time to time.
Giroud 6.5/10
Not his day in front of goal. Wasted two or three good chances to get a shot on target but he worked hard as usual up front against a physical defence. Also played a key role in the opener with a lovely pass to Wilshere.
Subs
Podolski 7/10 – Looked like he was hungry to get on the score-sheet and went close as he smashed the post with a thunderous effort.
Oxlade-Chamberlain N/A
The win keeps us a point clear at the top of the Premier League after Man City also collected three points with a 4-2 win over Cardiff. It’s another game down and a small step closer to doing something special this season.
