Manchester United entertain Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. Here’s a preview for the game with team news, likely line-ups and predicted score.
Manchester United entertain Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon with the champions looking to keep their top four hopes alive.
United sit seventh in the Premier League table following last weeks disappointing 2-1 defeat to Stoke City and now trail fourth-placed Liverpool by 10 points after the Merseysiders beat Arsenal on Saturday, so David Moyes will be desperate to close the gap tomorrow.
The Red Devils have an excellent chance to get back to winning ways as Fulham arrive in Manchester sitting rock bottom of the division and are now five points from safety.
The West Londoners were also knocked out of the FA Cup by League One Sheffield United in midweek so the pressure is mounting on boss Rene Meulensteen to get their season back on track.
Team News
United have suffered a blow with Jonny Evans being ruled out with a calf injury that forced him off last week at the Britannia Stadium. But Nemanja Vidic returns from suspension and is expected to come straight back in and play alongside Chris Smalling at the back.
Phil Jones was also stretchered off against Stoke after suffering concussion but he’s likely to be passed fit to play and could therefore line-up with Michael Carrick in midfield.
Winger Nani remains out with a hamstring strain while Marouane Fellaini is also out after picking up a minor groin problem in training.
Fulham will be without John Arne Riise who is struggling with a hamstring injury, but Kieran Richardson is likely to shake off an ankle injury to face his old club.
Sascha Riether is also in-line to return after a calf injury kept him out in midweek, while new signing Konstantinos Mitroglou could be on the bench following his big-money move from Olympiacos in January.
Likely Line-Ups
Key Man
Wayne Rooney: The forward is likely to play a key role for the Champions tomorrow as he’ll slot in behind Van Persie to link up the midfield with attack. Stopping the supply line to Rooney will be vital for the visitors if they want to take anything away from the game.
Predicted Score
Man Utd 3-0 Fulham: United have been hugely inconsistent this season but this game gives them a great opportunity to pick up a morale boosting win.
