Arsenal Ratings
Fabianski 8/10
Excellent display from the Gunners No.2. He made several top drawer saves to deny Sturridge and Suarez and showed safe hands to keep the visitors at bay.
Jenkinson 7/10
Adventurous down the right hand side and was reasonably solid at the back up against the dangerous Sterling.
Koscielny 7/10
Did well to snuff out the visitors lethal attack and the Frenchman made some important tackles.
Mertesacker 7.5/10
Held the Arsenal back line together when Liverpool pushed for a late equaliser.
Monreal 7/10
Was full of energy down the left side and made some excellent interceptions.
Flamini 7/10
Unspectacular but was a solid shield in from of the Gunners defence.
Arteta 7/10
Battled well in midfield and was important in breaking up the visitors play.
Oxlade-Chamberlain 8.5/10
Superb showing from the youngster. He opened the scoring with a well-taken finish before setting up Lukas Podolski for the second. Although he was lucky to get away with a poor challenge on Suarez in the area.
Ozil 7/10
Inch-perfect through ball for Chamberlain to set up the second goal and showed us he’s not afraid to do the dirty work as he tracked back to help out when needed.
Podolski 7/10
Deadly finish for the second goal and worked hard on the left. However, silly decision to clip Suarez for the penalty could have cost the Gunners.
Sanogo 7/10
Worked extremely hard up front and gave the Liverpool defence plenty of problems. Encouraging debut.
Subs:
Cazorla (6), Gibbs (6), Giroud (n/a).
Liverpool Ratings
Jones 6/10
Was unable to keep Chamberlain’s effort out but could perhaps have done better with the Podolski goal. Otherwise okay.
Flanagan 6.5/10
Got forward plenty of times but final ball let him down on occasion.
Skrtel 6/10
Was perhaps fortunate not to give away a penalty with a foul on Cazorla and his poor clearance gifted the Spaniard a great chance to add a third.
Agger 6.5/10
Looked pretty solid on his return from injury, but missed a glorious late chance to make it 2-2 but sent his header wide.
Cissokho 6/10
Was given a bit of a tough time by Chamberlain before being subbed as the Reds pushed for a second.
Gerrard 7/10
Showed off his passing skills again with his through-ball for Coutinho in the second half the pick of the bunch. Cooly scored from the spot.
Allen 6/10
His passing was a little wayward at times and struggled to stamp his authority on the game.
Sterling 7/10
His pace caused Arsenal plenty of problems.
Coutinho 6.5/10
Not at his best and we only saw flashes of his creative ability.
Sturridge 6.5/10
Missed at least two glorious chance to get on the score-sheet but either fluffed the chance or was denied by Fabianski. Not his day.
Suarez 7/10
Like his strike partner, Suarez had a rare off day in front of goal. Was fouled for the penalty and should have had another when Chamberlain flattened him in the box.
Subs:
Henderson (6)
So Arsenal are through to the last eight where they will now face Everton at the Emirates.
