Arsenal Boost As Star Set To Sign New Five-Year Deal Worth £100,000-A-Week

Arsenal are set to be handed another boost with the Evening Standard reporting that Aaron Ramsey will become the latest player to commit his long-term future to the club.

The Gunners confirmed on Tuesday that Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky have extended their stay at the Emirates after signing new deals and now it looks like Ramsey will follow suit and be rewarded for his excellent season.

The Welshman enjoyed a sensational start to the campaign, scoring 13 goals in 27 appearances to help Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table before a thigh injury sustained against West Ham on Boxing Day halted his progress.

The 23-year-old is due back within the next two weeks and the Standard claim he’s close to agreeing a new five-year contract that will see him more than double his wages to £100,000-a-week.

Ramsey still has over two years left to run on the contract he signed back in December 2012, but the newspaper suggests that Arsene Wenger is keen to secure his long-term future and talks are progressing well over the new big-money deal.

The former Cardiff man has certainly surprised many this season, going from nothing more than a squad player to a vital part of our midfield, so he  deserves his new contract. There seems to be a lot of activity in signing existing players up to fresh terms with Santi Cazrola also rumoured to be in talks, while negotiations are still ongoing with Bacary Sagna.

Hopefully we can get the trio tied down over the next few weeks to give us a major boost heading into the business end of the season. I think we’ll see Cazorla and Rambo sign new deals, but things aren’t looking good concerning Sagna and the longer things drag on the more it looks like he’ll be leaving when his current deal expires in June.
