Liverpool welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield on Sunday afternoon for one of this weekends key fixtures. Here’s the latest team news for the big game.
The Reds head into the weekend action sitting second in the Premier League table and much of their success has been down to the fact Brendan Rodgers has been able to field a settled side in recent weeks.
The Northern Irishman held his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon and gave the latest team news to Liverpoolfc.com and it was largely a positive update.
Rodgers confirmed he has no fresh injury worries to contend with and is pleased with the condition of his squad, with only Jose Enrique unavailable as he continues to recover from a serious knee injury. He told the clubs website:
“In terms of the squad, everyone is fine and everyone is fit. The condition of the team is very good; we are looking forward to the game. Only Jose Enrique is still out.”
The injury situation has also improved at Tottenham in recent weeks with a number of Tim Sherwood’s squad returning to full fitness.
Sherwood was also in front of the press on Friday and gave TottenhamHotspur.com an update on striker Emmanuel Adebayor, with the Spurs boss hopeful the Togolese hitman will be passed fit after missing last weeks win over Southampton with a cut heel.
“We’re hoping Ade can make it but he has a nasty cut at the back of his heel,”
“The question is whether or not we leave him out for another week, let it heal a little better or put him back in and (the threat that) it might open up again.” Sherwood told the clubs website.
Mousa Dembele is almost certain to be passed fit after training all week after the Belgian was withdrawn at half-time last weekend. Defender Vlad Chiriches has stepped up his recovery by playing for the under-21’s on Friday night but Kyle Walker and Erik Lamela remain out.
