Chelsea take on Paris Saint-Germain in France on Wednesday night in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final tie.
Ahead of the game, Blues boss Jose Mourinho has been speaking at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday evening and gave Chelseafc.com the latest team news and confirmed his 19-man squad.
Unfortunately Samuel Eto’o will once again miss out after failing to recover from the hamstring problem that ruled him out of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. The Cameroonian striker picked up the injury during the opening stages of Chelsea’s 6-0 win over Arsenal 10 days ago and Mourinho had hoped he would recover in time but he wasn’t among the 19-man squad that arrived in Paris today.
Ashley Cole is also still out with the knee ligament injury that he suffered before last months clash with Tottenham, so the defender stays back in London along with Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah – who are ineligible to play in Europe having already featured for Benfica and FC Basel respectively.
Ramires has missed the last two games through suspension, but returns to the squad as his ban only applies to domestic games. Here is the squad that flew to Paris today as confirmed on Chelseafc.com:
Goalkeepers
Petr Cech, Mark Schwarzer, Hilario
Defender
Branislav Ivanovic, David Luiz, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Nathan Ake, Cesar Azpilicueta, Tomas Kalas
Midfielders
Ramires, Frank Lampard, Oscar, John Mikel Obi, Eden Hazard, Willian, Andre Schurrle
Strikers
Fernando Torres, Demba Ba.
Chelsea will be hoping to take a positive result back to Stamford Bridge for the second leg, but it’s not going to be easy against a PSG side that boast’s talent like Zlatan Ibahimovic and Edinson Cavani.
