Player ratings as Arsenal eased past Hull 3-0 at the KC Stadium on Sunday afternoon thanks to a double from Lukas Podolski while Aaron Ramsey was also on target
Arsenal eased past Hull City 3-0 at the KC Stadium on Sunday afternoon thanks to a double from Lukas Podolski while Aaron Ramsey was also on target. Here are player ratings from Gooner Mac.
Szczesny 7/10
The Pole didn’t have too much to do in terms of shot stopping but dealt well with a number of crosses and corners.
Sagna 6.5/10
Another solid performance from the Frenchman. So dependable and I really hope we manage to tie him down to a new deal.
Mertesacker 7/10
Kept the dangerous Long and Jelavic relatively quiet and was a calm presence at the back.
Koscielny 7.5/10
Made a number of important interceptions and blocks. Very strong performance in defence.
Monreal 6/10
Our weakest player today. Struggled in the first half although he did improve after half time.
Arteta 6/10
Was out muscled for much of the first half and got a tooth knocked out after a shoulder in the face. Fair play for battling on man-fully.
Ramsey 8.5/10
Superb performance. Showed how much we’ve missed him with a goal and two assists. MOTM.
Podolski 8/10
So lethal in front of goal. Smashed home the second goal and was on hand to score the third from close range. His all-round play isn’t perfect but he’s such a threat.
Cazorla 7.5/10
Another good display after his MOTM performance in midweek. Enjoyed linking up with Ozil again.
Ozil 7.5/10
Superb comeback after six weeks out. Showed his class in flashes and was involved in the opener. Should have been awarded an early penalty. Got a good hour in before being subbed.
Giroud 6.5/10
Battled up front and was involved in the second goal as Ramsey chested down his cross, but not much else to report in terms of goal-scoring opportunities.
Subs:
Flamini – 6.5/10 – Solid 30 minutes after replacing Ozil.
Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7/10 – Positive impact from the bench and could have won a spot kick.
Sanogo – N/A – On too late.
We were a different team with Ramsey and Mesut Ozil back in the side and they brought the best out of those around them. We’ll never know how the season would have gone had our top players all stayed fit, but at least we’ve got a competitive team back together for the last few games and hopefully it will be enough to secure a top four finish and the FA Cup.
