Arsenal Team News: Wenger Confirms Triple Injury Boost But Midfielder Still Out
Arsene Wenger has confirmed a triple injury boost as Arsenal prepare to visit Carrow Road to take on Norwich City on Sunday afternoon. See the team news here.
Arsenal round-off their Premier League season when they visit Carrow Road to take on Norwich City on Sunday afternoon.
Boss Arsene Wenger held his pre-match press conference this morning and gave Arsenal.com a team news update including the latest on Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs and Aaron Ramsey.
Thankfully we have no fresh injuries to contend with and the boss also confirmed we have received a triple injury boost with Ramsey, Wilshere and Gibbs all back in contention.
Ramsey is back having missed last week’s 1-0 win over West Brom with a minor injury and the Welshman could also be joined in the squad by Wilshere, who is set to make his first appearance in over two months.
The midfielder fractured a bone in his foot playing for England back in March but returned to training late last month and is now ready and try to prove his fitness ahead of next weeks FA Cup final. Wilshere will also be pleased to get back in action with Roy Hodgson set to name his England World Cup squad on Monday.
Gibbs is also set for a return having missed the last five games with a hamstring problem and he could replace Nacho Monreal at left-back, but I’d prefer the boss to give him a run-out in the second half and keep him fresh for next weekend.
The only bad news to come out of the team news update is that The Ox is still sidelined with a groin injury and Wenger isn’t sure he’ll be fit enough to play any part at Wembley next Saturday. It would be gutting if Oxlade-Chamberlain can’t make the squad next week as he’s played an important role during the second half of the season, but I just hope his injury doesn’t scupper his World Cup hopes too.
Arsene told the clubs website;
on the team news…
We have everybody available who played against West Brom. We could have the return of Ramsey, he’s available again. Wilshere could be in the squad for Sunday as well.
on Gibbs and Oxlade-Chamberlain…
Kieran Gibbs will be back in the squad as well. He is in normal training at the moment.Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will still be out.
on Oxlade-Chamberlain making the FA Cup final…
I don’t yet. He has not at all practiced with the first team.
We have nothing left to play for in the league as we’ve already secured fourth and can’t catch Chelsea in third, so it would make sense to rest our key players this weekend and protect them for the FA Cup.
