Suarez Denies Madrid Clause Amid Reports Of €70m Bid
Luis Suarez has denied suggestions his contract includes a buy-out clause specifically for Real Madrid amid reports Carlo Ancelotti’s men are eyeing a €70m bid
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Luis Suarez is once again linked with Real Madrid.
Luis Suarez has denied suggestions his contract includes a buy-out clause specifically for Real Madrid and Barcelona amid reports Carlo Ancelotti’s men are lining up a €70m bid.
Speculation in Spain has claimed that Real are ready to table a €70m offer for Suarez this summer with the La Liga giants understood to be keen on replacing Karim Benzema with the newly-crowned PFA Player of the Year to form a devastating attack along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Media outlet El Confidencial suggests that €70m could be enough to trigger a clause in the strikers contract that was supposedly inserted when he signed his five-year deal last summer, that would allow him to leave should either of Madrid or Barca meet that figure.
However, when speaking to the press at a media event for 888 Poker on Wednesday, Suarez was quizzed about the reported interest from Spain’s ‘big two’ and although he refused to be drawn on transfer speculation, he did insist that his contract doesn’t include any clause ‘prioritising’ certain teams.
“I don’t want to answer that. I try to avoid press speculation.
“I know what I want and what my agent says is good for me, but I don’t want to comment on speculation.
“I didn’t sign any contract with clauses prioritising a certain team.” Suarez is quoted as saying by the Mirror.
Obviously this news will come as a welcome relief to Liverpool fans, who are no doubt already growing tired of seeing their star man linked with a big-money away from the club this summer.
But it’s probably only to get worse the deeper into the summer we go and to a certain extend you have to accept that your best players are going to be speculated about, particularly one as special as Suarez, and when you consider the kind of season he’s just had it’s only to be expected that he’s going to attract interest.

However, the striker has now made it clear there is no clause allowing Real Madrid to sign him for a set amount, so if the Spanish giants do want to try and land him this summer, I think they’ll need to come up with a lot more than €70m.
