Star Tipped For Chelsea Medical In Brazil After Being Offered £150k-A-Week Deal
Cesc Fabregas has been tipped to undergo his Chelsea medical while away at the World Cup and is expected to sign a long-term contract worth £150,000-a-week
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, more on Chelsea’s pursuit of Cesc Fabregas.
Cesc Fabregas has been tipped to undergo his Chelsea medical while away with Spain in Brazil at the World Cup and is expected to sign a long-term contract worth £150,000-a-week, according to reports today.
Fabregas’s future has been the subject of much debate in recent weeks after it emerged that he isn’t part of new Barcelona boss Luis Enrique’s plans and would be allowed to leave the Nou Camp just three years after moving back ‘home’ from Arsenal.
Arsenal have so far rejected the opportunity to trigger their first refusal buy-back option that was inserted into the midfielders contract when he was sold in 2011, with boss Arsene Wenger keen to strengthen other areas of his squad.
The Gunners would be due 50% of any profit made by Barcelona over the amount they paid for him but reports claim that Chelsea are confident of securing a £27m deal which wouldn’t be enough to see Arsenal benefit from the sale.
Fabregas is currently away on international duty with Spain preparing for the World Cup so many have assumed any potential deal would have to wait until after the tournament has finished.
However, the Telegraph are claiming today that Chelsea are keen to finalise the move quickly and will arrange for the 27-year-old to undergo a medical out in Brazil during the World Cup, while personal terms are also understood to be all-but agreed with the newspaper suggesting the midfielder will pen a long-term contract worth £150,000-a-week, which is significantly more than he’s currently on at the Nou Camp.

There has been so much speculation surrounding this transfer, it’s difficult to know what to believe, but it does seem the deal is close. If Fabregas does end up at Stamford Bridge, he will be an excellent replacement for Frank Lampard with the Blues legend set to leave the club on a free transfer when his contract expires later this month.
With Diego Costa also expected to complete his move to Chelsea this summer, Jose Mourinho is certainly building a fearsome squad and the Spanish duo could be additions the club need to fire them to the Premier League title next season after narrowly missing out last campaign.
