Arsenal and Liverpool are set to renew their interest in Juventus defender Mauricio Isla this summer after watching him star at the World Cup, according to reports today.
Isla is currently over in Brazil where he’s played a key role in helping Chile book their place in the knockout stages at the expense of Spain, with his adventurous display down the flank causing the reigning champions all sorts of problems during a 2-0 win last night.
It seems his impressive form has once again caught the eye of Arsenal and Liverpool with the duo tipped to renew their interest after being linked with the 26-year-old last summer. Isla was eventually persuaded to remain with the Italians following a frustrating debut season, but he’s continued to find first team football hard to come by under boss Antonio Conte last year, making just 14 starts, so could be open to a move this time around.
It appears he may have offers for a fresh start in the Premier League with the Daily Star claiming that Arsenal and Liverpool are going to resurrect their interest with both Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers in the market for a new right-back.
Although he can play in midfield or on the wing, Isla is predominantly a right-sided defender so he’d be an excellent replacement for Bacary Sagna, who is set to leave the Gunners to join Manchester City on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of this month.

Rodgers is also understood to be on the look-out for a long-term replacement for Glen Johnson, as the 29-year-old England defender has just one year remaining on his contract and is yet to agree an extension and commit his future to the Anfield club.
It remains to be seen whether either club will be able to strike a deal with Juventus but the newspaper report suggests the Serie A champs would be willing to do business at £15m, which seems a good deal for a player of Isla’s quality and experience.
