Wenger Tries His Luck With £22m Bid For Liverpool + Man Utd Target
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has failed with a £22m bid for Liverpool and Manchester United target Juan Cuadrado despite being in the hunt for Alexis Sanchez
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal make a bid for Juan Cuadrado.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has failed with a £22m bid for Liverpool, Manchester United and Barcelona target Juan Cuadrado despite still being in the hunt for Alexis Sanchez, according to reports in Spain.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for Sanchez in recent days with the north Londoners though to be leading Liverpool in the race for the much sought-after Chilean international.
However, despite this, it doesn’t look like it’s deterred Wenger from going after another attacker as Spanish media outlet Sport are reporting that Arsenal have made the first move to try and sign Fiorentina’s highly-rated winger Juan Cuadrado by tabling a £22m (€28m) bid.
The report claims the offer was instantly rejected by the Italians as they value him much higher after the 26-year-old impressed at the World Cup, with his adventurous displays down the right wing causing havoc until Colombia were unfortunately dumped out by hosts Brazil at the weekend.
Cuadrado has been attracting plenty of interest in recent weeks with reports claiming that the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have all shown a strong interest in signing the exciting attacker this summer.
But the English trio may have their work cut out in trying to lure him to the Premier League any time soon as Sport claim that the player has his ‘heart set’ on joining Spanish giants Barcelona.
It’s not clear whether Wenger had earmarked Cuadrado as a possible fall-back option in case the Sanchez deal doesn’t go through, or whether he actually plans to bring in two attackers this summer, but I’m sure Arsenal fans will be pleased to see their club finally being active after a slow start in the transfer market.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will increase their offer or the likes of Liverpool or United will now follow up their interest with a formal offer too, but it appears any club will struggle to land Cuadrado if Barcelona are in the running.
