Arsenal End Talks Over Potential €29m Deal For Chelsea Target
Arsenal have withdrawn their interest in Chelsea target Sami Khedira after failing to agree terms over a potential deal to bring the midfielder to the Emirates.
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal withdraw their interest in Sami Khedira.
Arsenal have withdrawn their interest in Chelsea target Sami Khedira after failing to agree terms over a potential deal to bring the midfielder to the Emirates., according to BBC journalist David Ornstein.
Khedira has been tipped to leave Madrid this summer after rejecting a contract extension and with just one year remaining on his current deal, the European champions are understood to be ready to cash in now rather than risk losing the midfielder for nothing in 12 months time.
This led to intense speculation linking him with a move to England in recent weeks with both Arsenal and Chelsea understood to be keen on luring the German international to the Premier League.
While Jose Mourinho is considering a move for his former midfielder having worked with Khedira during his time in Spain, it’s Arsenal who have being showing the most serious interest with widespread reports suggesting that Arsene Wenger has been in talks with Real Madrid about a potential €29m deal.
However, further reports claim that the potential move stalled after Khedira asked for £150,000-a-week in wages after tax and it appears those excessive wage demands have led to the Gunners ending their interest.
BBC journalist David Ornstein reported on Twitter on Monday that Arsenal have decided to end negotiations and move on to other targets.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will take advantage of Arsenal withdrawing their interest in Khedira to step up their own pursuit in the German, but it appears the north Londoners are going to switch their focus to alternative targets as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in a defensive midfielder this summer.
