Arsenal Set To Table Audacious €40m Offer For 25-Goal Hitman
Arsenal are set to put forward an audacious €40million player-plus-cash swap deal to Paris Saint-Germain involving Edinson Cavani and Olivier Giroud.
The summer transfer window is now reaching its climax and managers are working hard to make some last minute additions to their squad, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Gooner Mac brings us news of Arsenal’s interest in Edinson Cavani.
Arsenal are set to put forward an audacious €40m player-plus-cash swap deal to Paris Saint-Germain involving Edinson Cavani and Olivier Giroud, according to reports in France today.
Boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed he’s still in the market for further reinforcements before the window shuts at the end of the month and like myself, many fans feel we need a top class striker on board to really make us a title threat this season.
Well it looks as though the boss could be ready to spring a surprise on us as French newspaper Sport.fr are reporting that Arsenal are ready to offer PSG €40m (£32m) in cash plus Olivier Giroud in exchange for Edinson Cavani, with the package believed to be worth a total of €62.5m (£50m) – which suggests we value Giroud at around €22.5m (£18m).
It remains to be seen how PSG will respond if/when this offer is put on the table, but it’s certainly an exciting prospect for Arsenal fans to hear as Cavani would be a sensational purchase if we could somehow pull it off.
Many will no doubt dismiss this as nothing more than idle paper-talk. However, we could have more chance than you think. There has been widespread speculation this summer suggesting the Uruguayan hitman wants to leave the Parc des Princes this summer after he openly admitted that he wasn’t happy playing out on the wing.
While publicly the Ligue 1 champions insist Cavani isn’t for sale, they may be tempted to cash in as our proposal would not only provide them with a ready-made replacement for the injured Zlatan Ibahimovic, but it also gives them the funds they need to wrap up a deal for Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria.
I’m not saying it’s going to happen, I’m just saying there could be a chance if things go our way. If Cavan is unsettled and PSG need to raise funds to buy Di Maria, then our swap deal is surely going to be tempting?

Cavani would be a dream signing for us and would give us that world class striker we’ve been crying out for in recent seasons. Despite playing out wide last year, he still managed to score 25 goals in 43 games, and I think he’d be the difference between us going close, and winning the title this season.
I’m not getting my hopes up as it’s still highly unlikely anything will come of this, but you just never know…..stranger things have happened. Arsene must have something up his sleeve if he’s passing up on the likes of Mario Balotelli, right?
