The draw for the third round of the Capital One Cup took place on Wednesday night and as usual it’s thrown up some intriguing ties. See who the big teams got.
The draw for the third round of the Capital One Cup took place on Wednesday night and as usual it’s thrown up some intriguing ties with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool among the clubs to be drawn at home.
Jose Mourinho will be pleased to have been handed a home draw as his Chelsea side will face Bolton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal have also been drawn at home but they will face a tougher task, as Arsene Wenger’s side will have to navigate past Premier League opposition in the form of Ronald Koeman’s Southampton.
Liverpool will face Middlesbrough at Anfield after the Championship side beat Preston on Tuesday night, while Tottenham were drawn to play Nottingham Forest at White Hart Lane.
Everton are the only ‘top six’ Premier League side to be drawn away from home as Roberto Martinez’ men will play Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, while the Premier League champions Manchester City will face Sheffield Wednesday at the Etihad.
So all the big teams avoided each other so we’ll be hoping for some giant-killing. You can see a full list of the draw here. Ties will be played on either the 23rd or 24th September.
