Arsenal will look to build on their impressive win at the weekend when they take on Southampton in the Capital One Cup tomorrow night. Here is the team I think Arsene Wenger will select.
Goalkeeper: The League Cup offers the chance for some of the back-up players to get a taste of first team football and this should see David Ospina make his debut for the club with Wojceich Szczesny rested.
Defence: Arsene Wenger may rest one of his first choice centre-backs and with Laurent Koscielny hampered by a troublesome Achilles in recent weeks, I think the Frenchman will be rested with Per Mertesacker likely to offer an experienced head alongside youngster Isaac Hayden. Ideally we’d also rest Per but we have very few options at the back. Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin should get run outs in the full-back positions.
Midfield: Mathieu Flamini is expected to come back in for Mikel Arteta and I can see the boss starting Jack Wilshere after leaving him on the bench on Saturday. Aaron Ramsey has looked out-of-sorts this season so he should make way.
Attack: I think we’ll see Mesut Ozil, Danny Welbeck and Santi Cazorla rested and I wouldn’t want to see Alexis Sanchez risked from the start ahead of two huge games against Spurs and Chelsea either, despite the Chilean being left out against Villa. Tomas Rosicky and Lukas Podolski are expected to come in while we could also see Joel Campbell make his full debut. Yaya Sanogo is likely to start up front if he shakes off a hamstring injury otherwise we could see Chumba Akpom make his full debut as well.
This is how Wenger could line-up tomorrow:
What do you think of the team? What eleven would you go with?
