The hosts opened the scoring midway through the first half when Hazard jinked his way into the Arsenal box only to be fouled by Laurent Koscielny. The Belgian stepped up and stroked home the spot kick for 1-0.
Arsenal pushed for an equaliser after the break but Chelsea sealed the three points 10 minutes from time when Cesc Fabregas found Diego Costa with a superb long ball and the Spanish hitman lobbed Szczesny for 2-0.
