Arsenal & Man Utd Target Has ‘Heart Set’ On Anfield Move
Arsenal and Man Utd look set to miss out on the signing of Wiston Reid with the West Ham defender believed to have his heart set on a move to Liverpool.
The summer transfer window may be closed but managers are already thinking ahead to future transfer windows so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Liverpool appear to have won the race for Winston Reid.
Arsenal and Manchester United look set to miss out on the signing of Wiston Reid with the West Ham defender believed to have his heart set on a move to Liverpool next summer, according to reports.
Reid has emerged as one of the most reliable central defenders in the Premier League over the past few years after cementing himself as a regular at the heart of Sam Allardyce’s side since making the move from Danish side Midtjylland in 2010.
His impressive form not only saw him named as the Hammers Player of the Year in 2013, but he has also attracted interest from the upper echelons of the league with the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool all linked with a move for the 26-year-old over the course of last summer.
A move failed to materialise in the end but the New Zealand international is now in the final year of his contract at Upton Park and with no sign of an extension being agreed any time soon, it looks like he’s set to leave the club on a free transfer next summer.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is extremely short of options at the back with Calum Chambers the only recognised back-up for first choice centre-back pairing Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, while United boss Louis van Gaal is also believed to be on the look-out for defensive reinforcements after being forced to blood several youngsters this season, and Reid would be an excellent option for both clubs.
However, it looks like the duo will miss out as the Express claim that the player has his ‘heart set’ on joining Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers is set to tie up a deal that will see the defender move to Anfield on a free transfer when his contract expires in June 2015.

The Merseysiders already have Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho on their books but with Kolo Toure turning 34 in March, Rodgers is likely to be on the look-out for a long-term replacement and Reid would be a superb addition is they are able to get this deal over the line.
