Arsenal Ready To Sell ‘Unhappy’ Mesut Ozil In January As Bayern Line-Up £30m Bid
Arsenal are ready to cut their loses and sell unsettled attacker Mesut Ozil in January with Bayern Munich lining-up a £30m bid for the German international
The summer transfer window may be closed but managers are already thinking ahead to future transfer windows so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal could sell Mesut Ozil to Bayern Munich.
Arsenal are ready to cut their loses and sell unsettled attacker Mesut Ozil in January with Bayern Munich lining-up a £30m bid for the German international, according to reports today.
Ozil became our record signing when we paid Real Madrid £42.5m for his signature on deadline day in the summer of 2013 and he arrived at the Emirates with a reputation as one of the best playmakers in world football.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a promising start to life in England but his form dropped off after the New Year before injury ruled him out for the majority of the second half of the season.
Ozil’s form has continued to be erratic this campaign. While he’s showed his class when played centrally, the German has struggled whenever asked to play out on the wing and this has led to severe criticism from both fans and pundits alike.
It looks like this could be taking its tole on the player as according to the Daily Mail, Ozil is now growing increasingly unhappy at having to play out wide and wants to leave the club when the transfer window reopens in January.
If that wasn’t surprising enough, the newspaper also suggests that Wenger is willing to cash-in on his record signing and he’ll supposedly use the money to fund a move for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.
Ozil is currently on the sidelines with a knee injury but is expected to return in the New Year, which could be just in time to seal a move away from North London – if you believe what the Mail is reporting – with Bayern Munich understood to be lining-up a £30m offer this winter.
It’s difficult to know how much truth there is behind this report but I’d be hugely disappointed if Ozil was to leave in January. He was, and still is, one of the best playmakers in the world and with the likes of Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck in our team, we’ve finally got the pace and movement Ozil has been crying out for.

However, those talents are only going to be effective if he’s played in the middle as he’s completely wasted out on the wing, and although it may be premature to say he wants to leave, I can believe he’s not best pleased at having to play out wide.
I personally don’t see anything happening mid-season but if he’s continued to be played out of position when he returns from injury, I wouldn’t be surprised if he asked to leave next summer. In my opinion, Arsene should be building his team around Ozil, not sacrificing him to fit his new formation.
