Arsenal threw away a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Anderlecht at the Emirates on Tuesday night.
Mikel Arteta opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Danny Welbeck was fouled in the box before Alexis Sanchez continued his excellent goal-scoring form with a stunning volley for 2-0 at half time.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain then looked to have sealed the three points – and with it a place in the knockout stages – when he curled home a third just before the hour mark.
However, the game turned on it’s head when Anthony Vanden Borre tapped home from close range even though replays showed he was in an offside position. The visitors then made it 3-2 when Nacho Monreal gave away a soft penalty in the 73rd minute – again Vanden Borre was the man to find the back of the net.
The inevitable equaliser came in stoppage time when substitute Mitrovic headed home past Szczesny for 3-3 and leave us needing a point from our remaining two games to secure qualification to the next phase.
