Man Utd vs Stoke Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups, Prediction & Betting Tips
Man Utd take on Stoke City at Old Trafford this evening. Here is a preview with team news, likely line-ups, predicted score and betting tips for the game.
Manchester United will be hoping to continue their recent good run when they take on Stoke City at Old Trafford tonight.
The Reds head into the game off the back of three consecutive victories over Crystal Palace, Arsenal and most recently Hull City, with the Red Devils easing to a comfortable win over Steve Bruce’s men on Saturday.
The run has seen United move back into the top four of the Premier League table and Louis van Gaal will be hoping to secure another win this evening to move to within just two points of second-placed Manchester City.
Stoke arrive at Old Trafford having narrowly lost out 1-0 to Liverpool at the weekend with Glen Johnson popping up with a late header to leave the Potters ruing some missed opportunities at Anfield.
Mark Hughes’ men have now lost three of their last six league games so the former United striker will be hoping to get one over his old side to get their season back on track.
Team News
United have been hit by a major blow with Angel Di Maria set to miss out after straining his hamstring on Saturday.
Wayne Rooney was also forced off against the Tigers after crashing into the advertising hoardings towards the end of the game, but the skipper is expected to be passed fit.
Radamel Falcao is back in contention after coming off the bench last time out but the Colombian may have to make-do with a place among the subs after Robin van Persie’s stunning striker at the weekend should see him retain his place.
Luke Shaw, Phil Jones, Daley Blind and Jonny Evans all remain unavailable and Rafael is also expected to miss out despite returning to training.
Stoke will be without midfielder Steve Sidwell after he was ruled out for six weeks with a knee injury and he’s joined on the sidelines by Glenn Whelan, who has a calf problem.
Victor Moses, Robert Huth and Peter Odemwingie all remain on the sidelines.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Man Utd 2-0 Stoke: United looked to be getting back to their best at the weekend and another performance like that would almost certainly lead to three points tonight. Losing Di Maria is a blow but the hosts should still have too much for Stoke in the end.
Betting Tips
United are the favourites to pick up three points tonight at odds of 1/2 and a 2-0 home win is on offer at 7/1 with Betfair. Wayne Rooney looks a tempting bet at 4/1 to open the scoring but if we really want to find some value, why not combine that bet with a 2-0 United win in a scorecast which is on offer at very tempting odds of 26/1. Surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid!?
