[Tweets] Ozil, Ramsey & Gibbs Celebrate On Twitter After Arsenal Draw Monaco
Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Kieran Gibbs and Lukas Podolski have all reacted on Twitter to the news Arsenal will play Monaco in the last of the Champions League.
Arsenal fans were given an early Christmas present this morning after seeing their team being paired against Monaco in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Having finished second in Group D, the odds were that we’d draw one of the big boys in the last 16 with the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona all lying in wait.
The dream draw was Monaco, so after years of playing one of the favourites at this stage, it was a shock when we were pitted against the Ligue 1 side in today’s draw.
Arsenal fans celebrated on social networks and it wasn’t long before some of the players took to Twitter to also react to the news, with Aaron Ramsey calling it a ‘great draw’ while Lukas Podolski and Kieran Gibbs also had their say.
Mesut Ozil was also on Twitter and he pointed out that Arsene Wenger would be pleased to be going back to France to take on the team he managed for seven years between 1987 and 1994.
It’s certainly a favourable draw and we should have an excellent chance of progressing to the quarter finals, but Monaco will still give us a tough game and they’ve got a very solid defence that only conceded once in their six group games, so we shouldn’t be getting too excited just yet.
Here’s what the boys said on Twitter earlier:
Monaco! I'm sure our fans will enjoy the away trip… great place, great draw! #ChampionsLeague
