I seriously can’t remember the last time won, and I am pretty sure I’m not the only one. With our recent results, serious introspection is required and these are the problems ‘WITH SOLUTIONS’ that I feel our beloved club is facing :
1) We don’t have a leader
2) We don’t have a finisher
3) Our defence is for a lack of a word “toothless”, conceding the same no of goals as United and bagging 4 losses…
SQUILLACI is a player who is happy to remain anonymous, he likes to sit back and remain hidden in the crowd, he is simply a very average player, but whose mistakes remain somewhat hidden due to his experience. Fabregas has no will to play, people get on Arshavin’s back for not showing will to play, but what about Fabregas ?
Solutions:
We need to get Vermaelen back, he is a leader and should be made captain, Fabregas is not a leader. He does not want to play for us and is also injury prone. Let him leave this summer. Nasri can take his place, with Wilshere and hopefully Ramsey competing for the other spot.
WE NEED to buy Benzema or a proven finisher. Chamakh is a great number 2 striker, someone who is backup to a great striker, he’s good but will never win you matches on his own. Nikko is a young Chamakh at best, if he does everything right he can at most become what Chamakh is now.
RVP might as well be sold if a good offer comes around as his injury record speaks for itself. It doesn’t matter if he loves the club or is one of the better strikers (at his best) in Europe. We need to buy a world class PROVEN centre back, Per Mertersacker. Clichy and Gibbs must be given tutoring lessons on how to give a decent cross into the box.
Theo needs to bulk-up, as whats the use for having so much speed, if your opponent just out-muscles you! Enough of the 4-3-3, to play the 4-3-3 you need strong physical players to dominate the midfield, like the team of 03-04 did, our present midfield simply cannot match that level of physicality and hence a strategy which is to their strengths should be played.
Changing the tactics, changing the formation is all a part of the game. The same all “Attack, Attack, Attack” is going to get us nowhere. Ugly wins should also be a part of our game.
Should Wenger call it day ?????
Arsene Wenger is a stubborn manager, but he has led us through the most treacherous period in the history of the club, rebuilding an entire team at a shoestring budget while moving to a new stadium.
Most people underestimate the difficulty in that, clubs such as Leeds, Newcastle and maybe even Liverpool, highlight the many problems we could have easily succumbed too.
He is an intelligent manager and knows more about football that I probably ever will, but his stubbornness is his main flaw, and it may be argued that this stubbornness is what has kept us from a trophy in the last few years.
Personally I’d rather he remain, but also all for the changes I have highlighted above to also take place, which is like wishing for it to rain while the sun is shining. It’s rare but it does happen !
Wenger is not a stupid man and our recent results will have showed him the flaws in his plan and maybe these recent results will have finally push him to go through with the complete overhaul which began earlier this season. So in all have faith for every cloud has a silver lining, we just have to search for it in ours !!
KEEP THE FAITH…
Cheer-i-o,
THE ARMOURY
