Arsenal Set To Make Offer For £60k-A-Week Liverpool Target
Arsenal are set to try and beat Liverpool and Tottenham to the signing of this highly-rated contract rebel this month. Find out who the player is here..
With the January transfer now open for business, managers are working hard to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are linked with Liverpool and Tottenham target Winston Reid…
Arsenal are set to try and tempt West Ham into cashing-in on Liverpool and Tottenham target Winston Reid after Sam Allardyce admitted the defender has no future at the club, according to reports.
The Gunners are expected to bring in another central defender this month after their lack of options at the back were exposed when Laurent Koscielny was on the sidelines, with Nacho Monreal and Mathieu Debuchy both having to fill in at centre-back in recent weeks.
Several names have been linked with a move to the Emirates but Reid has emerged as a realistic target after his hugely impressive displays at the heart of West Ham’s defence over the past 18 months.
The 26-year-old’s performances have also caught the attention of Liverpool and Tottenham and the trio were boosted when Hammers boss Sam Allardyce admitted on Monday that Reid has no future at Upton Park after rejecting their contract offer and he expects the defender to leave when his deal expires in the summer.
However, it seems Arsenal are hoping to steal a march on Liverpool and Spurs as the Mirror claim that Wenger has now made Reid one of his key January targets and is looking to try and tempt West Ham into cashing-in now rather than lose him for nothing in six months time.
The newspaper suggests the Gunners are set to make a formal move and are confident the Hammers will sell for around £3m, while they will have no problem meeting Reid’s supposed £60,000-a-week wage demands.
It remains to be seen how Liverpool and Tottenham will react to this news and you wouldn’t be surprised if they also joined the bidding if West Ham did agree to sell this month, which means a ‘bidding war’ situation could develop.
Reid would be a useful addition for any of the three clubs as he’s approaching his peak years and has plenty of Premier League experience under his belt, so he wouldn’t take any time to adjust to life in England.

We’ll have to see how things develop but with West Ham flying high so far this season and pushing for a possible European place, I’m sure Sam Allardyce will be desperate to keep hold of the New Zealand international. However, as is the way in football…..money talks.
