Player Confirms Desire To Join Arsenal, Agent Says Deal Is Close
A Polish midfielder has expressed his desire to join Arsenal this month and his agent has confirmed that talks are ongoing and a deal should be agreed soon.
With the January transfer now open for business, managers are working hard to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Krystian Bielik wants to join Arsenal…
Polish midfielder Krystian Bielik has confirmed he wants to join Arsenal this month and is confident a deal with Legia Warsaw will be agreed soon.
Bielik has emerged as one of the hottest properties in his homeland after breaking into the first team set up at Legia this season following some impressive displays for the clubs youth team, and he’s made six appearances for the first team this campaign.
The 17-year-old’s potential has alerted Arsene Wenger as he’s been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates and reports earlier this week claimed we’d seen an improved bid rejected having had our opening offer of €2m (£1.6m) turned down last month.
Arsenal remain in talks with Legia but our efforts to strike a deal have been boosted by the news that Bielik has now publicly expressed his desire to move to North London. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday night, the teenager insisted he won’t change his mind and is confident a deal will go through soon.
‘I’ve made a decision [to join Arsenal] and I’m not going to change it,’
‘I am looking forward to an agreement between the heads of the clubs. I realise that the negotiations may take some time.
‘I am, however, confident it will happen soon.’ Bielik is quoted as saying by the Metro.
So it’s clear the player wants to join Arsenal and now his agent, Cezary Kucharski, has told the Guardian that negotiations are ongoing and he’s hopeful a deal will be agreed soon.
“We are speaking and hopefully we will find a solution,” his agent Cezary Kucharski told the Guardian.
Legia are believed to be holding out for a fee nearer €3m (£2.4m) and all the signs are suggesting that we’ll agree a deal in the coming days, so it looks as though Arsenal are closing in on their first signing of the January window.
Obviously Bielik isn’t the established name many fans are hoping Wenger will sign this month and although he certainly looks to have a bright future ahead of him, I don’t think we’ll see him make an impact on the first team any time soon.
I personally think we need to sign a ready-made replacement for Mikel Arteta, so I hope if we do sign Bielik, that we also bring in another more established midfielder.

However, if Bielik is the only midfielder we sign this month, then it looks as though the boss will go with what he’s got for the rest of the season and hope that the Polish youngster will use the next few months to learn from the likes of Arteta and Flamini before possibly pushing for a first team place next season.
