Arsenal Close In On First January Signing As Chief Flies Out To Finalise Deal
Arsenal are closing in on their first signing as chief transfer negotiator Dick Law has flown out in a bid to finally seal a deal for a highly-rated midfielder.
With the January transfer now open for business, managers are working hard to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal close in on the signing of Krystian Bielik….
Arsenal have sent chief transfer negotiator, Dick Law, over to Poland to try and finally thrash out a deal for highly-rated Legia Warsaw midfielder Krystian Bielik, according to The Times.
Bielik has emerged as one of the hottest properties in his homeland after breaking into the first team set up at Legia this season following some impressive displays for the clubs youth team.
The 17-year-old’s potential has alerted Arsene Wenger as he’s been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates and reports last week claimed we’d seen an improved bid rejected having had our opening offer of €2m (£1.6m) turned down last month.
Negotiations between the two clubs have continued and it seems we’re finally looking to wrap-up a deal as the Times are claiming that chief transfer fixer, Dick Law, is due to arrive in Poland this morning to hold face-to-face talks with Legia.
It appears we’ve been forced to step up our interest after Hamburg entered the race for Bielik’s signature with the Bundesliga clubs coach, Josef Zinnbauer, recently stating they are confident or luring the midfielder to Germany.
“Of course Arsenal are also interested but I don’t think he is bluffing [about being interested in joining Hamburg], otherwise he didn’t need to come to Hamburg.
“He is a really good boy who has very good build-up play. He would fit in perfectly with our philosophy.” Zinnbauer is quoted as saying by the Mirror
However, Arsenal remain the front runners and the fact we’ve sent Dick Law over to Poland proves how serious we are about getting a deal agreed soon. It’s believed that Legia are holding out for around €3m (£2.3m), so we shouldn’t have a problem coming to an agreement.
Obviously Bielik isn’t the established name many fans are hoping Wenger will sign this month and although he certainly looks to have a bright future ahead of him, I don’t think we’ll see him make an impact on the first team any time soon.

Therefore, if we do sign Bielik, I hope we also look to bring in another holding midfielder who can come into the first team immediately, with Morgan Schneiderlin being my preferred option.
