[Tweets & Photos] Sturridge, Gerrard & More: Liverpool Players Celebrate Spurs Win
Simon Mignolet, Mamadou Sakho, Daniel Sturridge, Alberto Moreno and Steven Gerrard were among the players to react online to Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Spurs.
Liverpool gave their Champions League hopes a major boost after beating Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 at Anfield on Tuesday night.
The hosts took an early lead through Lazar Markovic but Spurs levelled things up shortly after with in-form striker Harry Kane once again getting himself on the score-sheet.
Liverpool retook the lead from the penalty spot when Steven Gerrard fired home after Daniel Sturridge was fouled in the area before the visitors pulled it back to 2-2 just minutes later via a Mousa Dembele goal.
However, with less than ten minutes remaining Mario Balotelli made himself the unlikely hero as he poked home Adam Lallana’s low cross to secure a vital win for the Merseysiders.
The victory sees Liverpool move to within two points of fourth placed Arsenal and now just three points separates third from seventh in the table, so the race for Champions League qualification looks like it will go down to the wire.
After the game, several Liverpool players have taken to social media sites to celebrate the win with Simon Mignolet, Mamadou Sakho, Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno all having their say on Twitter, while skipper Steven Gerrard also posted his thoughts on Instagram.
Check out what the players had to say here:
