Arsenal & Man Utd Boosted As Spanish Attacker Hints At Summer Move
Arsenal and Man Utd have been placed on red alert after Pedro hinted he may be forced to leave Barcelona in search of regular first team football this summer
The January transfer window is now closed but that won’t stop the newspapers from speculating ahead of the summer so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal and Manchester United are linked with Barcelona’s Pedro….
Arsenal and Manchester United have been placed on red alert after Pedro hinted he may be forced to leave Barcelona in search of regular first team football at the end of the season, according to the Express.
Pedro has been with Barca since joining the youth team in 2004 as a 17-year-old and came through the C and B teams before making his first team debut in 2008. He was expected to go on and become a permanent fixture in the side after establishing himself as a regular in 2009, when he scored 23 goals in 52 appearances.
However, his career has stalled in recent seasons as he’s largely been used as an impact substitute with the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez ahead of him in Luis Enrique’s pecking order which has led to him completing the full 90 minutes just 4 times in his 11 starts so far this campaign.
It seems the 27-year-old is finally growing tired of his lack of regular action as Pedro has now admitted publicly that his situation at the Nou Camp is ‘complicated’ and he’ll have to assess his situation at the end of the season – but insists he’ll give his all for the Barca shirt whenever he’s called upon.
“The truth is that it’s complicated for those of us who play less. But when I go out [to play], I always give it all, the best of me.
“It’s my way of being; I never give up. You have to thing make things complicated for the coach when it comes to choosing the starting players.”
“I don’t know [if I will stay]. For now, I’m happy at the club, but you never know what is going to happen tomorrow.
“I’m calm, with my mind set on the club until the end of the season and then we’ll see what happens after that. Not having continuity makes things complicated. It’s tough, but what I try to do is help out as much as possible.” Pedro is quoted as saying by the Express
Pedro’s admission will no doubt have alerted a host of top European clubs and the Express claim that Arsenal and Manchester United are among those ready to offer him a fresh start.
The newspaper suggests that United are currently considered the favourites as Louis van Gaal would jump at the chance to sign a player of Pedro’s quality as he looks for alternative’s to Radamel Falcao – who is expected to return to Monaco when his loan expires in June.
Arsenal have long been linked with the Spanish international but it’s difficult to see where he would fit in at the Emirates given the abundance of attacking talent already available to Arsene Wenger. Lukas Podolski is expected to leave on a permanent basis this summer so perhaps the Gunners are eyeing Pedro as a potential replacement for the German?

Either way, Pedro would be an excellent signing for any club and I’d love to see him plying his trade in the Premier League next season, but we’ll have to wait and see whether he pushes for a move this summer or is persuaded to remain at the Nou Camp to fight for his place.
