3-4-2-1: Wenger To Make 3 Changes | Expected Arsenal XI vs Chelsea

Arsenal will be desperate to get back to winning ways when they welcome Chelsea to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

Here is the side Gooner Mac thinks Arsene Wenger will select for the game:

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech once again failed to save a penalty as West Brom snatched a late point on Sunday but I still expect him to retain his place with David Ospina once again on the bench.

Defence: Wenger has played a back three in our last two games and he might stick with that system in order to match-up against Chelsea but we have plenty of injury problems to deal with.

Laurent Koscielny is a major doubt as he was unable to train today after aggravating an Achilles injury during the 1-1 draw at West Brom on Sunday afternoon so Per Mertesacker is expected to come in.

Nacho Monreal is also out so Calum Chambers should keep his place despite giving away an unfortunate late penalty at the Hawthorns while Shkodran Mustafi will make-up the back three.

Midfield: Aaron Ramsey remains out with a hamstring injury so Jack Wilshere is set to start his sixth game in a row which will be a huge test of his fitness.

Granit Xhaka was declared fit to start against West Brom after picking up a knock at Palace so he should be fine to retain his place in the middle of the park tomorrow.

Sead Kolasinac has been ruled out for two weeks with an ankle injury that he sustained against West Brom so Ainsley Maitland-Niles is set for a recall in the left wing-back role while Hector Bellerin should continue on the right.

Attack: Mesut Ozil missed the draw at West Brom with a knee injury and there was no sign of him in training today so it looks like he’s lost the race to be fit to face Chelsea.

Alex Iwobi started against the Baggies but he was once again disappointing so I wouldn’t be surprised if Danny Welbeck was recalled to the starting eleven tomorrow night.

Alexis Sanchez scored a deflected free-kick against West Brom after bagging a brace at Palace last week so he’s coming in to a little purple patch but Alexandre Lacazette will be hoping to get back among the goals having drawn a blank in his last six appearances.

Olivier Giroud is still out with a hamstring injury but Theo Walcott will offer an attacking option from the bench.
