Manchester United to Maintain 100% Start

13 Premier League goals and 9 points to start to the season with, Manchester United have made a flying start to the season. And they’re only top by 1 goal ahead of their City neighbours.

Manchester United started their season with a dramatic stoppage time winner in the Community Shield against Manchester City before a narrow 2-1 victory at the Hawthorns in a game that saw David de Gea make a howler for the opponents goal, while they relied on an own goal for the win in the final 10 minutes.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s haven’t looked in doubt since, with comfortable 3-0 and 8-2 victories over North London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal respectively.

Wayne Rooney has scored in each of his three league matches to start the season, including a hat trick in their final game before the international break. He’s working well with Ashley Young, the £16 million signing from Aston Villa in the summer. Young has scored twice against Arsenal, having setup Rooney’s goal and the winning own goal on his United league debut.

Bolton’s defence, that includes Gretar Steinsson, Zat Knight and Paul Robinson do not match up well on paper against the oppositions attack. Wayne Rooney has started the season so well that last season’s joint-top Premier League goalscorer Dimitar Berbatov has taken to the field for just 26 minutes so far. Danny Welbeck had been looking good, with two goals to start the season before he pulled up with a hamstring injury half hour in against Arsenal two weeks ago. He is unavailable for this match. Unfortunately for Bolton, United can replace him with Javier Hernandez.

Since beating Queens Park Rangers 4-0 on the opening day, Bolton have shipped 3 goals in both their following defeats to Manchester City and Liverpool. They do have 7 goals to their name this season with Ivan Klasnic scoring in each, so they have every right to fancy their chances against a United defence without Nemanja Vidic, that could also be missing Rio Ferdinand, and with a shaky David de Gea in goal.

That should make for an exciting game with plenty of goals expected. Overall, Manchester United have too much class and attacking prowess for Bolton in this game. Yes, they only won 5 games on the road last season as champions, but I’m very confident they’ll get off to a 2/2 start this season the way they have been playing.
