Arsene Tipped To Trigger £10m Clause After Stepping Up Striker Interest
Arsene Wenger has stepped up his interest in Loic Remy with reports claiming that he has contacted Marseille to get a character reference on the striker.
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Gooner Mac brings us news of Arsenal interest in Loic Remy.
It looks like Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stepped up his interest in Loic Remy with reports claiming that he has contacted the Marseille chairman to get a character reference on the striker.
Remy has been strongly linked in recent weeks with Arsene Wenger drawing up a list of potential transfer targets as he looks to bring in some competition for Olivier Giroud next season.
The Telegraph reported a few weeks ago that Remy was ‘desperate’ to follow in the footsteps of his hero Thierry Henry and play for Arsenal, but was waiting for Arsene Wenger to make his move.
It looks like could be soon as the Express are reporting that the boss has now made contact with the Marseille chairman to seek advice and find out what the player was like to work with during his time at the Stade Vélodrome. An apparent source told the newspaper:
“Arsene rang our chairman. He seemed to be more interested in what kind of person Loic is. He didn’t give any trouble in the three years he was here.”
Remy spent three years at Marseille between 2010 and 2013 before he joined Queens Park Rangers and it appears the Ligue 1 outfit’s positive character reference has persuaded Arsene to formalise his interest in Remy as the newspaper states that the boss will now trigger the 27-year-old’s £10m buy-out clause.

It remains to be seen whether that will be the case though as there is so much speculation about, it’s difficult to know what to believe. Most of the talk in recent days has been about our interest in Mario Balotelli, so unless Arsene is going to buy both the Italian and Remy, it seems the newspapers are just speculating.
