Chelsea are chasing Napoli’s star striker Edinson Cavani and are considering a bid for the £35m ace.
The Mirror believes Chelsea are watching Cavani as they look to replace veteran forward Didier Drogba. The Ivorian striker is out of contract next summer and rumours circulating suggest the two parties are unable to agree a deal for the 33-year old.
Chief scout Mick Doherty, is said to have made a number of trips to watch the 24-year-old Uruguayan in action since and has sent back a glowing reference on the impressive striker.
Sources close to Napoli suggest the club have already rejected an approach from Manchester City for Cavani in the summer after he scored 26 goals last season.
The former Palermo striker is thought to be worth around £35million which could be too good to resist for Italian outfit.
