Schweinsteiger Starts, De Gea Out: Predicted Man Utd Starting XI vs Aston Villa
Manchester United take on Aston Villa at Villa Park on Friday night. Here is the side I think manager Louis van Gaal will pick for the big game.
Manchester United will look to maintain their 100% start to the new Premier League season when they take on Aston Villa at Villa Park on Friday night. Here is the side I think Louis van Gaal will pick:
Goalkeeper: The Dutchman confirmed at his press conference this afternoon that David de Gea will continue to be left out of the squad due to on-going doubts over his future. That means Sergio Romero will continue between the sticks tomorrow night.
Defence: Matteo Darmian made an impressive debut at right back so looks likely to keep his place and I think we’ll see the same back four put out by van Gaal after they kept a clean sheet against Tottenham.
Phil Jones is out with illness while Marcos Rojo is still lacking match fitness so Chris Smalling, Daley Blind and Luke Shaw should all keep their places.
Midfield: Michael Carrick managed to get through 60 minutes on Saturday but I think we might see him given a breather on Friday with Bastian Schweinsteiger coming in to make his full competitive debut.
Morgan Schneiderlin should keep his place in the middle of the park which means Ander Herrera is likely to be on the bench for the second consecutive game. Marouane Fellaini remains suspended.
Attack: Wayne Rooney is set to lead the line up front with Memphis Depay expected to be deployed just behind the England international in the ‘hole’. I don’t expect van Gaal to make any changes in attack so Juan Mata and Ashley Young should retain their places.
Here is how we think United will line-up:
What do you think? What line-up would you like to see start?
