Chelsea playmaker Cesc Fabregas is the only Premier League based player to have been named in the WhoScored Champions League Team of the Week.
The Blues were the only English side to secure victory this week following their 4-0 demolition of Maccabi Tel Aviv at Stamford Bridge last night.
Arsenal and Manchester United suffered shock losses away to Dinamo Zagreb and PSV Eindhoven respectively, while Manchester City lost at home to Italian champions Juventus on Tuesday.
Therefore, it doesn’t really come as a surprise that only Chelsea players came anywhere near to making the Team of the Week, with Fabregas the only player securing a score high enough to make the cut.
The Spaniard hasn’t been on top form during the early stages of the season but was back to his best against Maccabi last night as grabbed an assist for Diego Costa’s goal before getting on the score-sheet himself late on.
With impressive overall statistics that included having a 90% pass rate, Fabregas earned a score of 8.98 which was enough to see him make it in to the midfield of the WhoScored Team of the Week.
Despite their impressive scoreline, the only other Chelsea player who was even close to making the cut was youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who had a score of 8.2.
